Hazara Motorway under CPEC to be inaugurated next month

Zaheerul Islam, Commissioner Hazara Division, has announced that Hazara Motorway will be inaugurated in early October. In next three-four weeks, Hazara motorway a strategically important CPEC project will drastically cut the traffic burden on Karakoram Highway, Islam said. Construction on Havalian-Mansehra section of the Hazara Motorway is almost concluded and work on little patchwork would be over soon, he informed. Opening of Hazara Motorway will create ease for travelers using KKH, resulting in reducing travel time and energy consumption.

MANSEHRA: Commissioner of Hazara division Zaheerul Islam has said the Hazara Motorway will be opened to traffic early next month.

“This strategically important artery being built under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project will be opened in three to four weeks drastically reducing vehicular burden on the Karakoram Highway,” the commissioner told reporters here.

Mr Islam said work on Havalian-Mansehra section of the Hazara Motorway was almost complete, while little patchwork, which was under way, would be over soon.

“We would have opened the Hazara Motorway in the middle of August had heavy rains not hampered work,” he said.

Educationist Sahibzada Jawad Alfaizi hailed the announcement and said he was hopeful that the opening of the Hazara Motorway would ease traffic mess on the KKH and reduce travel time and petrol consumption.

He, who often travels on Mansehra-Abbottabad section of Hazara Motorway, complained traffic congestion on the KKH.

The educationist said the motorway would help promote tourism in Hazara division and Gilgit-Baltistan and thus, creating employment opportunities for locals.

TRESPASSER KILLED: A woman killed a trespasser in Pulrah area here at Tuesday night claiming he tried to sexually assault her.

The police arrested her on murder charge.

Reema Bibi approached police for the registration of FIR against the slain trespasser.

She insisted that Faiz Zeb had barged into her house when she along with minor children was asleep and her husband was away.

The woman added that the trespasser carrying a knife tried to sexually assault her, so she pulled her pistol from under the pillow and killed him.

She claimed that she didn’t know the trespasser, whose identity was revealed by his CNIC.

Also, two cousins, including Khursheed Khan and Rasheed Khan, were killed in an exchange of fire in Shaikhabad area here.

The firing left two people critically injured, who were shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where their condition was out of danger.

MEETINGS ORDERED: District police officer of Torghar Hafiz Janis Khan on Wednesday directed the region’s deputy superintendents of police and station house officers to meet with the respective liaisons committee members on a fortnightly basis to control crime.

“As criminals have adopted new methodologies, you should be more vigilant and stay in contact with liaison committee members for effective crime control,” Mr Khan told DSPs and SHOs during the monthly crime review meeting in Judbah area here.
