Pakistan, China call for peace in Middle East after high-level talks in Beijing

Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi held high-level talks in Beijing, where Pakistan and China jointly called for peace in the Middle East and discussed regional security, diplomacy, and strengthening bilateral ties. The two sides reviewed growing cooperation under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in West Asia, and emphasized continued coordination on Afghanistan, counterterrorism, and sustained high-level engagement to maintain momentum in their strategic partnership.

Pakistan and China on Tuesday issued a joint call for peace in the Middle East following high-level talks between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.

The two leaders met on Tuesday at the invitation of the Chinese foreign minister, where they discussed the rapidly evolving security situation in West Asia, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and the deepening bilateral ties between Islamabad and Beijing, according to a statement from the Foreign Office released on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Dar briefed China’s top diplomat on Pakistan’s active role in regional diplomacy, including the recent Islamabad meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, which focused on achieving a cessation of conflict and resuming dialogue.

Wang also conveyed Beijing’s appreciation for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts toward ending the conflict and its support for peace initiatives in West Asia.

The ministers reviewed the “growing momentum” in Pakistan-China relations, stressing enhanced strategic cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), increased high-level exchanges, and ongoing commemorations marking the 75th anniversary of bilateral ties.

Dar expressed gratitude to his Chinese counterpart for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to his delegation. The two sides also exchanged views on Afghanistan, underscoring the importance of peace, stability, and coordinated counterterrorism efforts.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular contact to sustain diplomatic momentum.
