China’s development model offers lessons for Pakistan

LAHORE – The Pakistan Visionary Forum on Sunday held a meeting on ‘Today’s China’ to discuss the country’s rapid development and governance model. The meeting, chaired by Forum President Dr Muhammad Sadiq, featured Chief News Editor of Daily Nawa-i-Waqt Muhammad Dilawar Chaudhry as the main speaker. Sharing his observations from his recent visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government, he highlighted China’s emphasis on education, discipline, innovation, cheap energy and efficient transportation. Other speakers, including Qayyum Nizami, Dr Amjad Ali Khan, Hassan Azhar and Khalid Bashir, said China’s progress was driven by sincerity of purpose, effective control of corruption, local autonomy and investment in research and development. The participants noted that China was focusing increasingly on innovation and high-quality, low-cost products, with electric vehicles cited as a recent example. They also observed that China promoted peaceful trade and coexistence rather than seeking dominance through war. The meeting concluded that China’s development experience offered valuable lessons in education, governance, economic planning, industrial growth and technological innovation.
