China’s National Day marked at Khunjerab Pass

Thousands gathered at Khunjerab Pass on October 1 for a flag-raising ceremony marking China’s National Day. Local communities, officials and border representatives joined the event, highlighting the pass as an important gateway for Pakistan-China trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. The border was temporarily closed from October 1–4 for China’s National Day holiday, with normal clearance resuming on October 5.

GILGIT-BALTISTAN, Oct 4 (Gwadar Pro) – Thousands gathered at Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan-China border on Oct. 1 for a flag-raising ceremony marking China’s National Day.

According to the SOST notification, local communities, officials and representatives from the border region participated in the event against the backdrop of the Karakoram mountains.

The Chinese national flag was raised as participants extended greetings to the Chinese people on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Khunjerab Pass, one of the world’s highest border crossings, is an important gateway for trade, tourism and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and China and a key link along the Karakoram Highway and CPEC.

The Khunjerab border crossing was closed from Oct. 1 to 4 for the National Day holiday, with normal clearance scheduled to resume Oct. 5, according to China’s Xinjiang border authorities. China’s National Day holiday runs from Oct. 1 to 7.
