China, Pakistan varsities organise three-day China-Pakistan Friendship forum

Punjab University's College of Arts and Design (PUCAD) has organized a three-day university exchange and art education forum on "China-Pakistan Friendship" in collaboration with Chinese Changsha Normal University, from Hunan province. Addressing the gathering, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities at PU, Professor Dr Iqbal Chawla said art is a global language and Pakistan and China can deepen their bilateral people to people ties through fine arts. Both countries are culturally rich, and fine arts could assist in knowing each other well, he stated. Professor Chawla maintained that Punjab University in partnership with the Chinese university had introduced joint PhD Programme in the subject of History for the first time in Pakistan. Under the program 15 Chinese students are currently studying at PU.

LAHORE: Punjab University’s Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla has said art has a universal language while adding that China and Pakistan could strengthen bilateral and people to people relations further through fine arts.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day university exchange and art education forum on “China-Pakistan Friendship” jointly organised by PU College of Arts and Design (PUCAD) and Changsha Normal University’ College of Fine Arts and Design at Old Campus here Tuesday.

Addressing the participants, Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla said Pakistan and China both were culturally rich countries and fine arts could help us understand each other. Prof Dr Iqbal Chawl said artifacts presented by the Chinese delegation were much impressive in the exhibition. He said PU Department of History for the first time in Pakistan had launched joint PhD programme in the subject of history in collaboration with the Chinese university under which 15 Chinese students were studying at PU.

Prof Dr Iqbal Chawl stressed the need to promote bilateral relations between the universities of both the countries and exchange of students and faculty members.

He said One Belt One Road (OBOR) project would bring prosperity for Pakistan and change its destiny. He said OBOR initiative had opened new opportunities for both the countries. He said Western countries were also becoming part of this project as it was a big reality of the time.

Faculty members from Changsha Normal University briefed the participants about the courses of fine arts being offered at their university. The exhibition would continue until (tomorrow) Thursday.
