China aggrieved over loss of life and property in monsoon rains in Pakistan
China on Monday expressed grief and solidarity with Pakistan over the heavy loss of lives and property caused by recent monsoon rains, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning conveying condolences on behalf of Beijing. She said China mourns the victims, extends sympathies to the affected families, and believes Pakistan will recover from the disaster soon. Foreign Minister Wang Yi also conveyed condolences to his Pakistani counterpart. Mao Ning confirmed that no Chinese citizens in Pakistan have been reported among the casualties so far, though the embassy continues to gather information.
BEIJING: China on Monday expressed grief and offered condolences to the people and government of Pakistan over heavy losses of life and property in the monsoon rains in across country.
Mao Ning, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told a briefing that China takes note of the heavy rainfall that have hit multiple regions in Pakistan and caused fatalities and economic loss.
“We deeply mourn for the lives lost and extend heartfelt sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones and those who are injured. Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed condolences to Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. We believe the people of Pakistan will overcome the disaster and build back from it at an early date,” she added.
Responding to a question of any loss of life of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan, Mao Ning said at the moment, no Chinese casualties have so far been reported in the disaster. The embassy is still gathering information, she added.
