ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday stressed building a strong business-to-business partnership between Pakistan and China to further expand the bilateral relationship and augment the dividends of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Addressing the first meeting of the Pakistan China Business and Investment Forum in Islamabad on Monday, he said we need to double our efforts to connect with the Chinese business houses and create an enabling environment to attract Chinese investments.
The premier was confident that his visit to China and his meetings with the Chinese leadership will be helpful in accomplishing these targets as well as promoting strategic and cultural relations.
Moreover, PM Shehbaz said he strongly believes that the CPEC has been a game changer in building business relations between the two countries.
He said that Pakistan was able to address the issue of load shedding due to the energy projects completed under CPEC.
The prime minister noted that given Pakistan’s comparatively cheaper labour, relocation of Chinese industries to Pakistan by establishing Special Economic Zones will be a win-win situation for the businesses of both countries.
The premier also said Pakistan can enhance its agriculture yield by using modern Chinese technology and techniques and the country can install agro-based industrial houses and export agriculture production to the Middle East and other countries.
Alluding to the Chinese achievements under President Xi Jinping, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan needs to emulate and learn from the Chinese model.
He thanked the Chinese government and companies for their valuable support to the flood-affected people of Pakistan, adding that Beijing is currently one of the largest donors to flood relief.
China created an air bridge between Beijing and Islamabad, sending essential relief items such as food and tents. He said the way Chinese companies and individuals contributed to flood relief, shows the depth and strength of the friendship between Islamabad and Beijing.
