Punjab Minorities Minister, Chinese Consul-General discuss bilateral ties

Punjab Minorities Minister Ramesh Singh Arora met with Chinese Consul-General Zhao Shiren at the Chinese Consulate in Lahore to discuss strengthening ties in minority empowerment, economic development, and bilateral cooperation. The minister emphasized Pakistan-China friendship, highlighting CPEC as a cornerstone of mutual growth and Punjab’s potential to attract Chinese investments for economic advancement. He reaffirmed Punjab’s commitment to protecting religious minorities and fostering interfaith harmony under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership. Arora invited the Consul-General to visit Kartarpur Corridor, while Zhao praised Punjab’s efforts for minority welfare and its solar panel program. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to peace, prosperity, and development.

LAHORE:Punjab Minorities Minister Ramesh Singh Arora Wednesday visited the Chinese Consulate in Lahore and held a meeting with Chinese Consul-General Zhao Shiren and discussed strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of minority empowerment, economic development, and cooperation between both the countries.

The minister highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and said China has been a constant ally to Pakistan in terms of providing diplomatic support and economic assistance at crucial moments. The minister said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) stands as a testament to our partnership, offering unparalleled opportunities for mutual growth, prosperity, and regional connectivity.

He highlighted Punjab’s critical role in this transformation, noting that the province is well-positioned to attract Chinese investments that will drive development, create jobs, and enhance the economy. He reiterated the Punjab government’s unwavering commitment to the empowerment and protection of religious minorities. The minister said under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial government is dedicated to promoting an inclusive society, creating equal opportunities for all, fostering interfaith harmony, and ensuring that the rights of every citizen, regardless of their religion, are respected. He invited the Consul-General to visit Kartarpur Corridor. The Chinese Consul-General praised the efforts of the Punjab government in improving the lives of religious minorities. Zhao also commended the Punjab government’s solar panel programme. In the end both sides expressed a strong desire to continue working together to create an environment of peace, prosperity, and development for all.
