Pakistan, China Hold 5th Round of Multilateral Consultations in Beijing
Pakistan and China held the fifth round of bilateral consultations on multilateral issues in Beijing, reaffirming strong convergence on global matters, particularly at the United Nations. Led by Ambassador Nabeel Munir and Director General Shen Bo, both sides discussed international peace, regional security, and reforms within the UN system. The meeting underscored their shared commitment to strengthening multilateralism and the Pakistan-China strategic partnership. On the sidelines, Ambassador Munir also met Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu to reaffirm the resolve to deepen bilateral ties.
Pakistan, China Reaffirm UN Cooperation During 5th Round of Multilateral Consultations in Beijing
BEIJING / ISLAMABAD, June 26 (APP) – Pakistan and China on Thursday held the fifth round of consultations on multilateral issues in Beijing, emphasizing their strong alignment on matters concerning regional and global peace, security, and the reform of multilateral institutions, particularly the United Nations.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Special Secretary (UN), Ambassador Nabeel Munir, while the Chinese side was headed by Shen Bo, Director General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, both sides conducted an in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of issues on the UN Security Council agenda, reaffirming their shared interest in preserving international peace and security, enhancing the effectiveness of the UN system, and strengthening multilateral cooperation in global governance.
The two delegations expressed satisfaction at the broad convergence of positions on key international issues and pledged to continue working closely in multilateral fora, including the UN, to safeguard shared values of sovereignty, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
In a separate meeting held on the sidelines, Ambassador Nabeel Munir called on Vice Foreign Minister of China, Miao Deyu. The discussion focused on further deepening the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China.
Both sides reaffirmed their unshakable diplomatic solidarity, citing the need to elevate the historic ties to new heights through strengthened political coordination, strategic trust, and multilateral engagement.
These consultations serve as a regular mechanism to coordinate positions on global challenges, enhance South-South cooperation, and reaffirm the strategic alignment between two of Asia’s closest partners.
